Class 10 arithmetic
CLAT Quantitative Techniques
Graphs and school arithmetic. A CAT quantitative book is the wrong tool.
Last updated: 18 August 2026
In short: CLAT Quantitative Techniques uses Class 10-level arithmetic in graphs, tables and short sets: percentages, ratios, averages, profit-loss, time-work as notified. Check the latest Consortium PDF for weightage. Practise sets inside CLAT PYQs.
What to revise
- Percentages, ratios, averages
- Reading a bar/line/table without panic
- Unit conversions and approximation
- Knowing when to skip a set so you protect Legal and English
A humane QT plan
Twenty minutes, four days a week, plus QT sets from recent PYQs, beats a weekend maths binge. If you are sitting AILET, confirm whether QT appears in that year’s pattern on the AILET syllabus page.
FAQs
Is CLAT maths of Class 12 level?
The Consortium describes it as Class 10 quantitative techniques. Do not start Class 12 calculus.
I am weak at maths. Can I still clear CLAT?
Yes if you protect accuracy in other sections and take the QT sets you can finish. Skipping the entire section without practice is how easy marks are lost.
Which book is enough?
NCERT Class 8–10 arithmetic chapters you actually need, plus official papers. A bulky bank-exam quant book is usually overkill.
Should I attempt QT first in the paper?
Only if timed PYQs show that QT is your fastest accurate section. Most candidates should not hide from Legal to finish maths.
